Embedded Platform for Industrial High-Performance Printers

CHALLENGE

The existing control system relied on outdated components and an expensive RTOS. A powerful, flexible, and long-term available alternative was required for global use within NOVEXX’s high-performance device family.

IMPLEMENTATION & MILESTONES

Initial development was carried out by NOVEXX using evaluation boards. Based on this groundwork, we took over schematic design, layout, commissioning, bootloader customization, and conceptualization for series testing. Short communication paths and close coordination ensured rapid and targeted project implementation.

OUR SOLUTION

In close cooperation with NOVEXX, we developed an embedded platform based on the NXP i.MX6 Solo:

  • ARM Cortex-A9 architecture

  • Real-time capability through Linux RT + Xenomai

  • DDR4/eMMC memory, FPGA connection via parallel bus

  • Compact form factor, high-speed design

  • Development of a needle bed adapter for efficient testing and repairs
